1. Malaikat Jibril

Dalam buku Quraish Shihab dengan judul yang sama dengan yang di atas, Malaikat Jibril dinamai Ar Ruh, Al Amin, dan Ruh Al Qudus. Salah satu tugasnya adalah menyampaikan wahyu Ilahi kepada para Rasul. Allah menegaskan tentang malaikat Jibril dalam Surat Asy Syuara ayat 193, dan Surat An Nahl ayat 102.

نَزَلَ بِهِ الرُّوْحُ الْاَمِيْنُ ۙ - ١٩٣

"Yang dibawa turun oleh ar-Ruh al-Amin (Jibril)." (Asy Syuara ayat 193).

قُلْ نَزَّلَهٗ رُوْحُ الْقُدُسِ مِنْ رَّبِّكَ بِالْحَقِّ لِيُثَبِّتَ الَّذِيْنَ اٰمَنُوْا وَهُدًى وَّبُشْرٰى لِلْمُسْلِمِيْنَ - ١٠٢

Katakanlah, "Rohulkudus (Jibril) menurunkan Al-Qur'an itu dari Tuhanmu dengan kebenaran, untuk meneguhkan (hati) orang yang telah beriman, dan menjadi petunjuk serta kabar gembira bagi orang yang berserah diri (kepada Allah)." (Surat An Nahl ayat 102).

Jibril tidak hanya menyampaikan wahyu kepada Rasul, tetapi juga mengajarkan agama melalui Nabi Muhammad SAW kepada sahabat-sahabat Beliau.

2. Malaikat Mikail

Malaikat Mikail bertugas menurunkan hujan, menumbuhkan tumbuh-tumbuhan, dan mengurus rezeki.

Keberadaan Malaikat Mikait tercantum dalam Al Quran Surat Al Baqarah ayat 98:

مَنْ كَانَ عَدُوًّا لِّلّٰهِ وَمَلٰۤىِٕكَتِهٖ وَرُسُلِهٖ وَجِبْرِيْلَ وَمِيْكٰىلَ فَاِنَّ اللّٰهَ عَدُوٌّ لِّلْكٰفِرِيْنَ - ٩٨

Barangsiapa menjadi musuh Allah, malaikat-malaikat-Nya, rasul-rasul-Nya, Jibril dan Mikail, maka sesungguhnya Allah musuh bagi orang-orang kafir.

3. Malaikat Israfil

Malaikat Israfil bertugas untuk meniup sangkakala. Dalam buku Quraish Shihab, disebutkan nama malaikat Israfil tidak disebutkan secara langsung dalam Al Quran, hanya tugasnya saja yakni meniup sangkakala seperti tercantum dalam Surat Az Zumar ayat 68.

وَنُفِخَ فِى الصُّوْرِ فَصَعِقَ مَنْ فِى السَّمٰوٰتِ وَمَنْ فِى الْاَرْضِ اِلَّا مَنْ شَاۤءَ اللّٰهُ ۗ ثُمَّ نُفِخَ فِيْهِ اُخْرٰى فَاِذَا هُمْ قِيَامٌ يَّنْظُرُوْنَ - ٦٨

Dan sangkakala pun ditiup, maka matilah semua (makhluk) yang di langit dan di bumi kecuali mereka yang dikehendaki Allah. Kemudian ditiup sekali lagi (sangkakala itu) maka seketika itu mereka bangun (dari kuburnya) menunggu (keputusan Allah).

4. Malaikat Izrail

Al Quran tidak menyebut nama Malaikat Izrail. Namun tugas Malaikat Izrail disebutkan untuk mencabut nyawa dan tercantum dalam Surat As Sajdah ayat 11:

قُلْ يَتَوَفّٰىكُمْ مَّلَكُ الْمَوْتِ الَّذِيْ وُكِّلَ بِكُمْ ثُمَّ اِلٰى رَبِّكُمْ تُرْجَعُوْنَ ࣖ - ١١

Katakanlah, "Malaikat maut yang diserahi untuk (mencabut nyawa)mu akan mematikan kamu, kemudian kepada Tuhanmu, kamu akan dikembalikan."

5. Malaikat Munkar

Malaikat Munkar bertugas menanyai orang yang mati di dalam kubur.

6. Malaikat Nakir

Nama malaikat berikutnya yakni Malaikat Nakir. Malaikat Nakir bertugas menanyai orang yang mati di dalam kubur. Dalam Makalah Pendidikan Agama Islam (PAI) Iman Kepada Malaikat: SMA Negeri 1 Sidayu disebutkan Malaikat Munkar dan Nakir akan bertanya ketika pemakaman selesai. Orang yang terakhir dari jamaah pemakaman telah melangkah 40 langkah dari kuburan.

7. Malaikat Raqib

Malaikat Raqib bertugas mencatat amal baik manusia.

8. Malaikat Atid

Malaikat Atid bertugas mencatat amal buruk manusia. Quraisy Shihaib menyebutkan keberadaan Malaikat Raqib dan Atid tercantum dalam Surat Al Qaf ayat 18:

مَا يَلْفِظُ مِنْ قَوْلٍ اِلَّا لَدَيْهِ رَقِيْبٌ عَتِيْدٌ - ١٨

Tidak ada suatu kata yang diucapkannya melainkan ada di sisinya malaikat pengawas yang selalu siap (mencatat).

Para malaikat Raqib dan Atid berada di sisi kanan dan kiri manusia. Mereka mengetahui bisikan hati manusia dan mencatat gerak-gerik serta aktivitasnya. Niat yang baik akan dicatat meski belum diwujudkan dalamm tindakan nyata.

9. Malaikat Malik

Nama malaikat berikutnya yakni Malaikat Malik. Malaikat Malik bertugas menjaga pintu neraka. Nama Malik dan tugasnya ada di dalam Al Quran Surat Az Zukhruf ayat 77:

وَنَادَوْا يٰمٰلِكُ لِيَقْضِ عَلَيْنَا رَبُّكَۗ قَالَ اِنَّكُمْ مَّاكِثُوْنَ - ٧٧

Dan mereka berseru, "Wahai (Malaikat) Malik! Biarlah Tuhanmu mematikan kami saja."" Dia menjawab, "Sungguh, kamu akantetap tinggal (di neraka ini)."

10. Malaikat Ridwan

Nama malaikat berikutnya yakni Malaikat Ridwan.
