Larangan Mencukur Alis
Dari Abdullah bin Mas’ud Radhiallahu ‘Anhu, dia berkata:
لَعَنَ اللَّهُ الْوَاشِمَاتِ
وَالْمُسْتَوْشِمَاتِ وَالْمُتَنَمِّصَاتِ وَالْمُتَفَلِّجَاتِ لِلْحُسْنِ
الْمُغَيِّرَاتِ خَلْقَ اللَّهِ تَعَالَى
“Allah melaknat wanita pembuat tato dan yang bertato, wanita
yang dicukur alis, dan dikikir giginya, dengan tujuan mempercantik diri
mereka mengubah ciptaan Allah Ta’ala.”
An Namishah (pencukur alis) dan Al Mutanamishah (orang yang alisnya dicukur) juga haram dan mendapatkan laknat Allah Ta’ala.
قال الطبري: لا يجوز للمرأة تغيير شيء من خلقتها التي خلقها الله عليها بزيادة أو نقص التماس الحسن لا للزوج ولا لغيره
“Berkata Imam Ath Thabari: Tidak boleh bagi wanita mengubah sesuatu
dari bentuk yang telah Allah ciptakan baginya, baik dengan tambahan atau
pengurangan dengan tujuan kecantikan, tidak boleh walau untuk suami
dan tidak juga untuk selain suami.”
Imam Ibnu Jarir Ath Thabari ini tidak memberikan pengecualian, bahkan
seandainya wanita memiliki kumis dan jenggot pun –menurutnya- tidak
boleh dihilangkan sebab hal itu termasuk mengubah ciptaan Allah Ta’ala.
Namun, pandangan ini ditanggapi oleh Imam An Nawawi sebagai berikut:
وَهَذَا الْفِعْل حَرَام إِلَّا إِذَا
نَبَتَتْ لِلْمَرْأَةِ لِحْيَة أَوْ شَوَارِب ، فَلَا تَحْرُم إِزَالَتهَا ،
بَلْ يُسْتَحَبّ عِنْدنَا . وَقَالَ اِبْن جَرِير : لَا يَجُوز حَلْق
لِحْيَتهَا وَلَا عَنْفَقَتهَا وَلَا شَارِبهَا ، وَلَا تَغْيِير شَيْء
مِنْ خِلْقَتهَا بِزِيَادَةِ وَلَا نَقْص . وَمَذْهَبنَا مَا قَدَّمْنَاهُ
مِنْ اِسْتِحْبَاب إِزَالَة اللِّحْيَة وَالشَّارِب وَالْعَنْفَقَة ،
وَأَنَّ النَّهْي إِنَّمَا هُوَ فِي الْحَوَاجِب وَمَا فِي أَطْرَاف
الْوَجْه
“Perbuatan ini (mencukur alis dan tukang cukurnya) adalah haram,
kecuali jika tumbuh pada wanita itu jenggot atau kumis, maka tidak haram
menghilangkannya, bahkan itu dianjurkan menurut kami. Ibnu Jarir
mengatakan: “Tidak boleh mencukur jenggot, kumis dan rambut di bawah
bibirnya, dan tidak boleh pula merubah bentuknya, baik dengan penambahan
atau pengurangan.” Madzhab kami, sebagaimana yang telah kami kemukakan,
menganjurkan menghilangkan jenggot, kumis, dan rambut di bawah
bibir . Sesungguhnya larangan hanya berlaku untuk alis dan bagian tepi
dari wajah.” 3)
Sebenarnya, jenggot dan kumis bagi wanita adalah suatu keadaan yang
tidak lazim dan tidak normal. Sebab, wanita diciptakan Allah Ta’ala
secara umum tidaklah demikian. Oleh karena itu, mencukur keduanya
bukanlah termasuk kategori mengubah ciptaan Allah Ta’ala, melainkan
menjadikannya sebagaimana wanita pada umumnya. Maka, dengan paradigma
seperti ini, pendapat yang menyatakan bolehnya mencukur kumis dan
jenggot bagi wanita adalah pendapat yang lebih kuat.
Ada pun mencukur bagian alis yang tumbuhnya tidak kompak di bagian
sudut-sudutnya saja. Maka para ulama berbeda pendapat. Imam Ahmad
membolehkan dengan syarat itu bertujuan menyenangkan suami.
Namun Syaikh Muqbil Al Wadi’i mengkoreksinya, menurutnya yang benar
adalah tetap tidak boleh sebagaimana larangan tegas dalam hadits
tersebut yang tidak membedakan antara mencukur sedikit atau banyak
walaupun bertujuan menyenangkan hati suami.
Hal ini juga dikuatkan oleh kaidah bahwa niat yang baik tidaklah
mengubah sesuatu yang haram menjadi halal. Maka, niat baik seperti
menyenangkan hati suami seharusnya dengan cara-cara yang halal.
