GHIBAH merupakan perbuatan tercela yang dilarang dalam Islam. Namun, tak sedikit orang yang terjebak melakukan ghibah.

Mengutip Wikipedia, ghibah adalah menyebutkan sesuatu yang terdapat pada diri seorang muslim, sedang ia tidak suka (jika hal itu disebutkan). Baik dalam keadaan soal jasmaninya, agamanya, kekayaannya, hatinya, akhlaknya, bentuk lahiriyahnya dan sebagainya. Caranya-pun bermacam-macam. Di antaranya dengan membeberkan aib, menirukan tingkah laku atau gerak tertentu dari orang yang dipergunjingkan dengan maksud mengolok-olok.

Dalam kitab Ghidza al-Albab fi Syarh Mandhumat al-Adab, Imam As-Safarani al-Hanbali, mengutip pendapat Imam Ibnu Hazm. Ibnu Hazm mengatakan, para ulama sepakat fitnah dan ghibah merupakan perbuatan yang dilarang, kecuali sebuah nasihat yang semestinya.

Dalam al-Inshaf ‘an al-Nazhim, disebutkan tentang fitnah dan ghibah yang tergolong dosa besar sehingga diharuskan segera bertaubat dari dosa tersebut.

Lantas, bagimana cara bertaubat atau meminta ampunan atas dosa ghibah tersebut? Apakah harus meminta maf langsung kepada orang yang dighibahi?

Imam Ibnu Qayyim menjelaskan, Rasulullah SAW pernah bersabda bahwa tebusan bagi orang yang sudah meng-ghibah orang lain adalah dengan memohonkan ampunan dari Allah SWT atas orang yang sudah dighibahi.

Lebih lanjut, Ibnu Qayyim mengatakan, ada dua pendapat ulama sebagaimana yang diriwayatkan Imam Ahmad.

Pendapat pertama, orang yang menyesal dan bertaubat karena melakukan dosa ghibah cukup minta ampun kepada Allah SWT.

Pendapat kedua, juga harus mendatangi orang yang dighibahi untuk mengakui keghibahannya dan meminta maaf.

Ibnu Qayyim berpendapat, orang yang bertaubat dari dosa ghibah tidak perlu menemui orang yang di-ghibahinya untuk mengakui kesalahan dan meminta maaf. Menurut dia, pendosa ghibah cukup memohon ampunan kepada Allah SWT. Pendapat ini juga dikuatkan Ibnu Taimiyah dan beberapa ulama lain.

Dijelaskan lebih lanjut, jika pendosa ghibah juga mendatangi orang yang dighibahi untuk mengakui kesalahannya, maka ada kemungkinan membangkitkan permusuhan karena merasa tidak senang menjadi bahan pergunjingan.

Karena itu, yang paling bijak yaitu cukup memohon ampunan dengan sebenar-benarnya taubat kepada Allah SWT dan tidak perlu mendatangi orang yang dighibahi. Bagaimana pun, tujuan syariah, salah satunya untuk melumpuhkan kejahatan, tidak mengumpulkan benih-benih kejahatan atau menambahnya.
